If you’d like to enjoy a day of a cycling in green space not too far from Bangkok’s bustle, Bang Krachao is ideal. This river island is an urban oasis where residents live to a decidedly more relaxed rhythm. Your own leisurely cycling trip will take you through the island’s lush greenery amid majestic trees. Attractions along the route include Siamese Fighting Fish Gallery, Sri Nakhon Khuan Khan Park and Bangkok Tree House. Basic bicycles suitable for casual riding can be rented on Bang Krachao at very reasonable rates. You can head to here any day of the week, but if you go at the weekend be sure to stop by Bang Nam Phueng floating market for delicious local food at local prices.
From Novotel Bangkok Ploenchit Sukhumvit, you can reach Bang Krachao directly in approximately 40 minutes by metered taxi. Or, take a taxi to Wat Kloung Toey Nok, then catch a river ferry and cross over to Bang Krachao dock, where you can rent a bike and begin your cycling trip.
